Meat emissions... What's the truth?
News | Chris Ward | Friday, 07 May 2010

I've opened up comments for the first time on the Aduki site as this is a topic I'd be interested to get people's thoughts and feedback on this topic...

I gave up meat eating for environmental reasons, personally I have no problem with my place in the food chain, but I do have a problem with modern farming methods and I don't have the guts or inclination to kill an animal myself, so it seemed the only clear option to me.

It's been widely agreed upon for quite a while by most sections of society that giving up meat is one of the best things you can do to help the environment, however there have been an increasing amount of reports recently (Like this one) countering and contradicting this opinion. What's going on? Are we all wrong or has there been some fervent lobbying happening behind the scenes from the meat and dairy industry?

Throwing another topic into the mix, what are people's thoughts on highly processed animal free products that are generally shipped a long way to our shelves, are they any better than eating local meat?

It's a thorny issue... Go!
